Enterprises today collect and generate more data than ever before. Business users ask more sophisticated questions and need to explore data in more detail than legacy systems allow. They must combine a variety of data from many sources and extract real, actionable information and insight from it quickly. Hadoop makes this possible.
Please join Scalar on March 8th in the Ivey ING Direct Leadership Centre for a breakfast session on Hadoop.
Hear from Cloudera, the industry-leading Hadoop distribution platform, as well as Hadoop infrastructure solution providers SGI and NetApp, about what Hadoop means for your organization and the considerations when deploying Hadoop. Additionally, Fuad Efendi, CTO of Tokenizer will share his experiences around Hadoop in a case study presentation.

- 8:30am – Registration and breakfast
- 9:00am - Welcome and Introductions: Michael Traves, Solution Architect, Scalar Decisions
- 9:15am – Hadoop in an Enterprise IT Infrastructure: Adam Smieszny, System Engineer, Cloudera

SPEAKERS:
Adam Smieszny - Systems Engineer at Cloudera
Adam will speak about the current place of Hadoop inside an enterprise IT infrastructure. He will focus on use cases for Hadoop, both generally and by vertical, and some of the ways in which this new technology stack complements/competes with existing components. He will also discuss some of the operational challenges presented by Hadoop, and how they are being handled in existing deployments.
Fuad Efendi – Founder and CTO at Tokenizer Inc.
Fuad will lead a discussion around his experience with Hadoop and more specifically, Lily. Built on top of HBase, HDFS and SOLR – Lily combines scalable storage, indexing, and search with real-time useage metrics, insights, and recommendations. Lily is ideal for management of semi-structured, content-centric media and data objects that need versioning, sophisticated search and complex metadata.
David "Sunny" Sundstrom - Director, Software Product Marketing and Management at SGI, Inc.
Sunny will be speaking about some of the key considerations and challenges in designing end-to-end systems for data analytics, running and managing them at scale, and deploying them in production environments.
David McBride, Senior Systems Engineer, NetApp
Dan will speak about NetApp Open Solution for Hadoop and the efficiencies of segregating CPU and storage. As well, he will speak to the highlights of NetApp’s own internal deployment of Hadoop.
